We have a long-standing relationship with Bayer Crop Science through our valued partnership with Porter-Novelli and they have always thrown us interesting projects to develop. When they asked us to create a video for their 2015 Bayer Bee Care Community Leadership Award winner, we were excited to get started. Our task was to create a piece highlighitng opportunity award winner Paul Vonk and his open source HiveTool.net resource for beekeepers and its global impact on bee populaton research.
Shooting with the Sony FS7 in Rabun Gap, Georgia (where Mr. Vonk teaches) ECG DP extraordinaire Brandon Peterson was able to get up-close and personal with the local bee population, and, in his own words, “become one with the bees.” Not to worry, no one was stung in the process of capturing this footage. The shoot was very free-form, which allowed us to capture very naturalistic interviews with a very conversational style.
Having this type of creative freedom definitely infused the interviews with a highly conversational feel, making the content and its importance easily relatable to a mass audience. Paul Vonk an extremely articulate subject who clearly had experience synthesizing high level concepts in a way that is easily accessible. Our crew learned a ton about bee behavior, and we hope you will too.
